June 3 – I am writing today to make some exciting announcements to our community! After working carefully with all of our regulatory agencies, we are pleased to begin to offer the thing that we have missed the most during this COVID-19 pandemic and that is in-person visits with families.
We are pleased to allow two types of visits with Residents, provided that the physical distancing and protection requirements described in detail below are followed. As much as possible, we will continue to use alternative electronic methods for communication between Residents and visitors, such as Skype, FaceTime, Messenger, and other methods of communication.
1) Designated Outdoor Window visits: To Begin Wednesday, June 3, 2020
We are now able to allow in-person visitation at designated window visitation spaces, provided that all of the following safety, care, and infection control measures are taken:
Visits with a Resident in the designated space must be scheduled in advance and are dependent on permissible weather conditions, availability of outdoor space, availability of staff, and the health and well-being as well as the desire of the Resident.
Visitors must be limited to no more than a party of two individuals for each Resident. Every visitor must agree to all conditions of the window visit guidelines
A Resident who is unwell, is being quarantined, or on isolation precautions is unable to be visited except for certain compassionate care circumstances.
Windows must remain closed at ALL times
A visitor must remain at least six (6) feet from all Residents and staff member(s) at all times during the visit.
Visitors must wear a face covering or mask for the duration of the visit. The facemask must be covering the NOSE and MOUTH of the visitors at all times.
We have some additional sound equipment coming in next week to aid with window visits. For the time being, please bring a cell phone with you. When you sign up for an appointment, please include the cell phone number of the phone you will have with you. Staff will be assisting Residents dialing your number.
In order to accommodate as many visits as possible and to allow for proper disinfecting between visits, the length of a window visit, will be limited to 15 minutes at this time. We ask that you limit your visit to once a week as we start this program. If you have any questions, please contact our concierge desk at 508.665.5302 or firstname.lastname@example.org.
2) Designated Outdoor visits: To Begin Monday, June 8, 2020
More to come on this type of visit at the end of this week.
Compassionate Care Visitation: For compassionate care situations, including an end-of-life situation, additional visitation may continue to be available. Please contact the nursing department to discuss.
We are so excited to begin seeing your faces again in our community (even if through a window). We truly understand the sacrifice you have made in order to keep our Residents safe. Keeping loved ones away from their families is something we do not ever wish to do. Nothing can replace the love and joy that visitors bring to our community. We cannot wait to see you!
