Veteran Aid & Attendance Benefit Pension for Assisted Living

  • What is it?
    • A Federal and tax free benefit that is paid out monthly to the veteran (or surviving spouse of veteran) through the Department of Veterans Affairs to help cover Assisted Living costs.
  • Who is eligible?
    • General
      • Wartime Veteran or surviving spouse over age 65 (or totally disabled).
        • Veteran who served his/her own country for (a minimum of) 90 consecutive days of active duty with at least one day during wartime era.
        • Must have been honorably discharged.
    • Medical
      • Veterans and/or surviving spouses requiring regular care or assistance with daily living activities and meet certain requirements.
    • Financial
      • The maximum allowable assets are based on the veteran and/or surviving spouse’s income, medical expenses and life expectancy. 
  • How do I apply?
    • Call us today! The Heritage community can help you learn more about the Aid & Attendance Program. We work with benefits administrators in the area who help families of qualifying veterans and/or surviving spouses apply for benefits through the Department of Veterans Affairs.
